almost done with the june photo-a-day challenge!

#19) imperfect: i was really bummed when my favorite computer bag broke rendering it unusable - but then i fixed it with a simple black binder ring and voilà, good as new.
#20) favorite photo: i am obsessed with tree silhouettes and pretty skies so, when scrolling through my camera for my favorite photo i've taken, this one made me smile. i just love the bright pink and blue sunset sky.
#21) where i slept: i had to come home unexpectedly so i slept in my bed at my parent's house with the sweet little bear who holds my spot when i'm away :)
#22) from a high angle: the view from my dad's hospital room.
#23) movement: a cool ceiling fan on a hot day. such a blessing!
#24) on my mind: making a sweet message from my dog. hoping that my dad feels better soon!

#18) something most people may not know about me? i've played the piano since I was 6 years old :) i only play about twice a year at this point but i love it every time i get a chance to play.

color crush: vintage teal & coral

i dream of one day having a whole room devoted to my creative hobbies.
wouldn't that be so amazing?

a clothesline clipped with newly printed photos.

i haven't been feeling so great the past few days,
so lately my nights have been ending with the nice hot mug of peppermint tea.
so relaxing and delicious.

a spring night

this weekend, my poor dad was sick for father's day so we couldn't do much with him

[really hoping he feels better soon!]

but on saturday, i had a nice relaxing night with my mom :)

reading magazines on the deck.

sipping blackberry lemon bellinis.

enjoying a warm spring night.

our deck happy hour was followed by delicious homemade pesto & pasta!

it was a happy night :)

#9) my view on june 9th was la villa pizzeria in NJ for my nana's 90th birthday!

#10) hearing my papa sing "the girl that i marry" to my nana was the best bit of my weekend :)

#11) fiddlehead door - my favorite salad place in state college

#12) my beloved fan from a low angle - i couldn't get a shot outside because of the rain. so i had to pick something inside & my fan is one of my favorite things right now because i have a roommate who is not too fond of the A/C [why do i always get stuck with these people?! cold air is your friend on a 90+ degree day, right?]

color crush: clear sky & sunshine

after the first few rainy days of the week, i am really loving these

sunshiny-clear-blue-sky days we had yesterday and today.

here's a color crush in hopes that this pretty weather is around to stay!

i had 4 days of traveling last week and was blessed with nothing but blue skies :)

photo-a-day june #1-6

things have been really busy with traveling lately,

but i wanted to post the first 6 of my june photo-a-day challenge :)

#1) "a morning without coffee is like...sleep" - a morning cup in my hershey apartment

#2) "empty chairs at empty tables" - a view from chipotle...everyone was eating outside :)

#3) coffee was on my plate - i forgot to photograph anything i ate that day, so this shot was actually from awhile ago at my favorite diner!

#4) close-up of my sweet louie - love his little face

#5) "signs signs everywhere there's signs" - this was a slightly enhanced sign at penn state, thought the top hat & cane were a nice addition :)

#6) the dutchess' hat - i just loved all of kate's fashion at the queen's jubilee last week!

devon

"eat, drink, and be merry"

that's exactly what i did last friday night.

devon is supposed to be the nicest restaurant in hershey,

so i tried it out with with a friend

and it was really great.

the food was delicious and our waiter was wonderfully entertaining :)

and i just loved the outside of the building, which is the old hershey press building.

[the inside was so pretty too, but i didn't get any shots of it]

i will definitely be trying this place again :)

birthday boy

in 2004, my childhood wish of getting a dog finally came true...

a little, white, fluffy puppy joined our family!

here is my louie at just 4 months old :)

[i think these are actually his first photos with us...he's so little]

 

and yesterday he turned 8 years old...

and the reasons i love him so much?

he's super serious & neurotic,

but he always makes us laugh.

he's ready to attack when people enter the house,

but then cries when they leave.

after 8 years he still has no idea how to play catch,

but he can do elaborate tricks for his cookies.

he sleeps constantly,

but is instantly on his feet if he hears one of his favorite words or the door bell ring.

he has the sweetest little face...

...and it gets him out of everything :)

photo-a-day challenge

i've been wanting to try a photo challenge for awhile to make myself keep working
on my photography, like the 365 daily or 52 weekly photo challenges on flickr.
but a year round commitment seems like a loooong time!

so i came across FatMumSlim's website awhile ago and saw that she does

monthly instagram photo-a-day challenges. how perfect!

she gives you one word/phrase per day for one month.

each day you take a photo that represents that word/phrase to you.

then you post it to your favorite social media sites. 

simple & fun, right??

so i decided to try it for the month of june! i'll be posting daily on instagram & twitter and will try to summarize them on here about once a week.

today's photo word is "morning" and for me, good mornings start with a nice cup of coffee :)
